Bob Lentz will serve as Greenwood's Interim Head of School for the 2007-2008 school year. Bob brings 40 years of experience in classroom teaching, school administration, and as an adjunct professor to this position. Bob has lived and worked in Kansas, Ohio, Virginia, Massachusetts, and Michigan. Bob now lives in Danville. Recently, he authored the book Comments From the High School Principal, a copy of which can be browsed in the GFS library.,
Bob and his wife, Sandy, moved to Rush Township outside of Danville seven years ago, attracted by beautiful scenery, a home with a pottery studio, and friendly people. Since then they have been active in the artist community (the Artspace Gallery), the BTE community, the diversity community (the Racial Task Force), and their church community. In addition they've planted vegetables, berries, and many varieties of flowers and plants. They've also managed to keep the birds fed, as well as the dogs and cat. Their three children and seven grandchildren (ranging in age from 21 to 4) visit regularly. Their daughter lives in Detroit and teaches in a Waldorf school. Their older son has lived in West Africa for most of the last 25 years following up his Peace Corp experience. Their younger son lives in Philadelphia and is the president of a small software company. Bob is looking forward to his Greenwood Friends experience. Prior to the move to this area, he was principal of a suburban Detroit high school for 19 years. The school enrolled 1200 students. 87% went on to further education. Greenwood is much smaller of course – but seems to have almost as many committees. Both schools have first rate faculty, involved supportive parents, and motivated and talented students. |
