Brenda comes to us with long experience in independent schools, including three other Friends schools. Since 2002, she has taught language arts, socials studies, science, and math in a fifth-grade classroom at State College Friends School.
Brenda grew up in Richmond, Indiana. Her father, Keith Esch, worked for Earlham School of Religion and her mother, Virginia Esch, worked for Friends United Meeting. Brenda maintains her membership in the West Richmond Friends Meeting and attends State College Friends Meeting. Holding a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Guilford College, Brenda did graduate work at the University of Wisconsin in Women’s Studies, Social Work, and Statistics, and at the Earlham School of Religion towards a Master of Divinity with a concentration on Pastoral Care and Counseling.
Along with teaching at State College Friends, Brenda helped develop curricula and worked extensively with parents, faculty members, administrators, and board and community members on Theme Week, Curriculum, and Quaker Life committees; her own class’s Web page; on Martin Luther King Day celebrations; as faculty meeting recording clerk; and many other endeavors. |
