Spanish Teacher

Maria was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala and is the proud mother of 5 and 6 year old boys. She attended Business School and studied English at the Francisco Marroquín and Mariano Galvez Universities in Guatemala. She enjoys teaching Spanish because she can share her culture with students and she recognizes the importance of learning another language as an advantage in professional life. Since Maria moved to Danville in 2004, she has learned that the community really would like to have more exposure to Spanish ; that was a great reason to became a private tutor and volunteer Spanish teacher at the Danville Head Start Program. Maria also tutors private students at the middle and high school level as they prepare for Advanced Placement tests for college credit in Spanish and Spanish Literature. She’s happy to report that students she worked with won honorable mention, bronze, and silver medals in 2007 and 2008 National Spanish Examinations! Now as Spanish Teacher at Greenwood Friends School, she feels confident that she will bring a fresh approach to the class and help the school and students to reach their goals. |
