The four weeks of Camp Greenwood and Camp Invention were a terrific success thanks to our enthusiastic teachers; the energy of our camp coordinator, Rejena Girton; and especially our campers. The children (and some adults) at Camp Greenwood learned about Animals, Art, Astronomy, Drama, Fire Science and Safety, First Aid and CPR, Shakespeare, and Whitewater Dynamics.
The 31 first-through-sixth-grade students at Camp Invention got to
disassemble old electronics and appliances and create never-before-seen
inventions, as well as build roller coasters and crash-test vehicles
(with raw eggs as the dummies; some survived and some did not).
Campers also enjoyed extra activities like Beach Day (with over 300
water balloons!), a drama presentation, and Astronomy Night (with bonus
rides on the Greenwood Fire Engine). You can read all about the
activities in the Camp Greenwood Flash
and see photos on the Flickr link above. Next summer Camp Invention
and Camp Greenwood will return -- we'll have details here as they
become definite.
