Emily is excited and pleased to join the Greenwood Friends community as an art instructor. A 2003 graduate of Alfred University with a degree in Fine Arts, like most art students, she has found many ways of combining her creative interests and skills with more practical pursuits. She has worked in fashion design for Tracy Watts, Inc., New York, and Claire Joseph atelier, Los Angeles, applying an interest in textiles and some good old-fashioned sewing skills picked up from her mother to the high-end fashion industry. More recently, she was contracted to design and construct costumes for BTE's summer production of Ancient Greek Idol. She currently designs and produces her own line of handmade hats and bags under the Endless Hats label. Her philosophy of art includes an emphasis on balancing the need for creative expression with a need to practice craftsmanship. And above all, she believes that making art should be fun! |
