| Haverford Friends Visit |
Greenwood’s Intermediate students hosted the 4th
grade class from Haverford Friends School,
visiting our area from suburban Philadelphia.
Greenwood
teachers, students, parents, and friends took the group to a local dairy farm
and the Millville Friends Meetinghouse, enjoyed a cookout at GFS, and shared a
hayride. The Haverford visitors camped out overnight in GFS’ Physical
Education room and shared breakfast with their hosts before continuing their
trip.

varieties of apples and how to make cider.
Students also picked pumpkins and went on a wagon ride. The following day in school, students
prepared apples and made applesauce, delivering it to Shirley in the office,
among others; all of the tasters agreed that the students made excellent
applesauce.

Students explored online resources, including online interactive courseware, a
video periodic table of the elements from Nottingham University,

environmental activists explaining what they actually "do."
| All School Field Trip
Stepping Back To A Simpler Time: The Landis
Valley Museum
in Lancaster, PA was the destination for an all-school
field trip. All kindergarten through
eighth grade students, their teachers, and parents who attended the trip
experienced a slice of life in the 1800's by observing and participating in
baking, spinning and dyeing wool, blacksmithing, and paper crafts. Students dressed in period attire and worked
on chores including carrying water from a well, using a washboard to clean
linens, and embroidering cloth. Museum
demonstrators spoke to groups about what life was truly like without many of
today's amenities.
