Abigail Casal
EARLY SCHOOL TEACHER
Pre-K
Abby graduated from the University of Scranton with a degree in Early Childhood Development. She completed her student teaching in a kindergarten classroom and has also spent time observing and substitute teaching in a variety of elementary classrooms. These experiences have strengthened her passion for helping children learn, grow, and feel confident in themselves. She believes in teaching the whole child and supporting academic skills while also fostering creativity, curiosity, and emotional growth. In her classroom, every student is encouraged to explore, ask questions, and discover their unique strengths in a caring and supportive environment.

Shannon Kirk
EARLY SCHOOL TEACHER
Kindergarten/First Grade
Shannon is a highly experienced and passionate educator with over 25 years dedicated to shaping young minds from Pre-K through second grade. Armed with a Bachelor's in Early Childhood/Elementary Education and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction, she is deeply committed to laying strong foundational skills for every child. Shannon believes in harnessing student curiosity to explore the world, while actively promoting problem-solving, effective communication, and daily growth. She excels at differentiating instruction to meet individual academic needs, crafting classroom environments where a love for learning flourishes alongside the values of Quaker testimonies.

Alexus DegBrina
EARLY SCHOOL TEACHER
Grades 2-4
Alexus graduated from Bloomsburg University with a BS Ed in Early Childhood Education and a minor in Special Education. Since graduating, she has been teaching a variety of capacities in grades K-12. Alexus left the public school system in pursuit of a school that shared her belief that social/emotional/and creative learning is equally important to the more "traditional" learning needs. This is her third year here with us at Greenwood Friends and she continues to grow as an educator with a love for teaching within a Quaker setting. Alexus currently resides in Muncy with her husband, Brent, and their pets Louise, Archer, and Boomer.

Dottie Grocott
SPANISH TEACHER
Dottie continues her mission of teaching for life, joining Greenwood after retiring from public education. She earned her BSEd and MSEd from Temple, MSEd in Technology at Wilkes, and has taught since 1968. Her ancestors were martyred Christian teachers and she strives to support their belief that teachers are to serve the main dish of life with strength: Dignity Integrity Sincerity Humility, served with Christian love. Her ancestors and Spanish teacher would also expect that rather than retire, she devotes her life to the life-long responsibility of educating others.

Ashley Zerby
EARLY SCHOOL ASSISTANT TEACHER
Pre-K/Kindergarten
Ashley graduated from Central Susquehanna LPN Career Center in 2013. She has a wide range of nursing experience including primary care, intellectual/developmental needs, and school health services. Since moving back to her hometown, Millville, she has worked as a substitute nurse for a local school district and it is this exposure that has reignited her interest and passion for education. When at home, Ashley enjoys gardening, reading, and spending time with her husband and son.

Jessica Kashetta
FINE ARTS (MUSIC & ART) TEACHER
Jessica is a professional violist and music educator. She has performed with the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra and with many touring artists. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music from Lycoming College where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. Her love of teaching violin and viola has expanded to many other instruments, including singing. Working with students at Greenwood has proven a rewarding experience as young learners transform into artists and musicians.
Jessica is a mom of four, an accomplished baker, and loves spending time with her children and her two dogs.

Jessica Temple
DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATION & BUSINESS
Jessica joined the GFS administrative team in July of 2024. She brings a life-long love of learning, after dedicating 25+ years of her professional life to the support of graduate medical education. Jess is a native of Millville, and after graduation from MHS, went on to study English. More recently, she has been majoring in Professional Studies. Jess is an avid cook, a mom to two amazing young men and also enjoys spending time with her 3 pups.
