Assistant Teacher Position

We are searching for an Assistant Teacher for a part-time, hourly position (25 hours per week) beginning immediately. The successful candidate should have some classroom experience and a willingness to work with young children.

Qualifications:

• Education degree/coursework preferred, or combination of educational and related experience required

• Experience with children in a classroom setting

• Excellent communication skills

• Professional appearance and conduct

• Familiarity with and appreciation for Quaker principles

• Clearances related to child abuse and criminal background

Substitute Teachers
In the absence of the regular classroom teacher, the substitute teacher is responsible for the continuation of all learning activities in the classroom. A spirit of cooperation, sharing, kindness and respect is expected at all levels. This individual must effectively implement instructional plans left by the teacher, communicate clearly with students and establish a positive climate, and maintain classroom discipline. Bachelor’s degree preferred and previous experience in a classroom setting required. This is an “on-call” position that yields a per-diem wage.
